Bence Benyusz opened his own workshop in Budapest on Vármegye Street in 2012, even before completing his studies at the Faculty of Architecture of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Together with his friends and fellow architects, he realized numerous projects collaboratively.His technical expertise was refined through continuous work in his family’s construction business, while his practical architectural experience was shaped both by independently acquired commissions and collaborations with other architects. His design approach is characterized by a conceptual mindset rather than a constant search for formal expression. He is a restless experimenter. Since 2015, he has been undertaking architectural commissions through his own practice.

The name BENBEN is an anagrammatic reference to the ancient Egyptian benben stone: in Egyptian mythology, the benben was the first mound to emerge from the primordial waters, upon which Atum, the creator god, came to rest. The benben is also the sacred capstone of every pyramid and obelisk. The mystique of this simple architectural element symbolizes the holistic architectural ars poetica of the BENBEN studio.
